Caro Braun’s precise, physically alert work in Rose holds its own beside Sandra Hüller. We rate her highly in a demanding part, though the film’s severe control sometimes limits what its actors can give.

In Rose (2026), Caro Braun makes small differences in emphasis worth attending to. As Suzanna, she gives us a person to consider even when the film’s grimness threatens to wear us down. We were moved by the care in her performance: feeling comes through those slight changes, without a conspicuous display of emotion. Her precision is one of the reasons we recommend this demanding drama, even with a reservation about how tightly it controls our response.
Her earlier screen work includes Freddy in the short When I Bleed (2022) and a second-series appearance in Where’s Wanda? (2025), alongside work in the theatre. Rose, her first major feature role, puts her opposite Sandra Hüller under Markus Schleinzer’s direction. That is the important turn for us: she has a part whose success depends on sustained attention to small details. It would be premature to make a career-long virtue of restraint, but here she has found a director who knows how to use it.
Suzanna also calls on Braun’s ability to communicate physically, beyond the dialogue. The film asks how a person can assert herself within the rules imposed on her, so Braun’s physical precision has something specific to express. Schleinzer allows the actors time without asking them to underline every moral difficulty with an obvious show of suffering. Braun and Hüller repay that patience, keeping us interested in the people when the storytelling threatens to become too restrictive.
There are stretches when we want the film to loosen its grip and let these performances do more of the work. Its emotional control sometimes becomes stifling, and Braun’s accomplishment should not be mistaken for proof that every restriction helps her. Nor does one major feature role tell us what she might do with a less austere part. Start with Rose; next time, we would welcome a part that gives her a little more room.
Biography
Caro Braun is a German actress. She trained at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg between 2019 and 2023, and completed a UFA Casting Masterclass. She began acting in her teens with workshops at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and has worked in theatre, notably at Theater Aachen.
Braun is known for her role as Suzanna in the 2026 film Rose. She has appeared in other screen work including the short film When I Bleed (2023), the series Where’s Wanda? (2025), and earlier projects such as Szene Report (2023). She grew up in Bochum and is based in Berlin.
