Biography
Carole Cook was an American actress. Born Mildred Frances Cook on 14 January 1924 in Abilene, Texas, she studied Greek drama at Baylor University and began her career in regional theatre before moving to New York in the 1950s.
A protégé of Lucille Ball, who gave her the stage name Carole, she appeared regularly on The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy. Ball was matron of honour at Cook's 1964 wedding to actor Tom Troupe. Her film credits include The Incredible Mr. Limpet (1964), Mrs. Dobrun in American Gigolo (1980), Grandma Helen in Sixteen Candles (1984) and the voice of Pearl Gesner in Home on the Range (2004). She also made numerous television guest appearances, including on Grey's Anatomy (2005), and performed in original Broadway productions of 42nd Street and Romantic Comedy.
