Biography
Catherine Paillé is a French screenwriter and director. She was born on 25 December 1980 in Les Sables-d'Olonne and studied philosophy and cinema at Paris-VIII before graduating from the screenplay department of La Fémis in 2005.
She has written or co-written numerous feature films, including Shéhérazade (2018), Magnetic Beats (2021), All Hands on Deck! (2020, also known as À l'abordage), The Sixth Child (2022) and A Place to Fight For (2023). She has frequently collaborated with directors such as Samuel Collardey and Léa Fehner. Paillé also directed the 2010 short film Le bel été.
Her work has received awards including the SACD Prize at Cannes in 2021 for Magnetic Beats and the Valois for best screenplay at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival in 2022 for The Sixth Child. In 2026 she served on the jury of the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
