Biography
Cathy Downs was an American actress. A former model, she was signed by 20th Century Fox in 1944 and made her film debut in small roles in State Fair (1945) and The Dolly Sisters (1945). She played the title role of Clementine Carter in John Ford's My Darling Clementine (1946) and appeared as Mari Cathcart in The Dark Corner (1946).
Following her early studio work, Downs appeared in a series of lower-budget westerns and other films in the late 1940s and 1950s, including For You I Die (1947), The Noose Hangs High (1948) and science-fiction pictures such as The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues (1955) and The Amazing Colossal Man (1957). She worked sporadically in television, with guest roles including an episode of Perry Mason (1957). Downs died in Los Angeles in 1976.
