Biography
Cesare Gravina (23 January 1858 – 16 September 1954) was an Italian actor of the silent era. Born in Naples, he appeared in more than 70 films between 1911 and 1929, often in supporting or uncredited character roles.
Before entering film, Gravina worked as an orchestra conductor in Italy, including at La Scala, where he collaborated with singers such as Mary Garden and Enrico Caruso. He later owned theatres in South America. He is known for roles including Cesare Ventucci in Foolish Wives (1922), Zwerkow the junkman (uncredited) in Greed (1924), the manager (uncredited) in The Phantom of the Opera (1925), and Ursus in The Man Who Laughs (1928). He also appeared in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and The Wedding March (1928).
