Biography

Chan Man-Keung (also credited as 陳文強) is a Hong Kong screenwriter. He graduated in 1982 from the Chinese Department of Hong Kong Baptist College (now Hong Kong Baptist University) and began his career in television, working as an assistant director and scriptwriter for realistic drama series at Television Broadcasts Limited and Radio Television Hong Kong.

He entered feature films in the late 1980s, collaborating frequently with director Lawrence Lau on works including Gangs (1988), Queen of Temple Street (1990) and the Lee Rock series (1991). Other notable credits include co-writing Crime Story (1993), Flirting Scholar (1993), Summer Snow (1995) and Kung Fu Hustle (2004). He has twice won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Screenplay, for Queen of Temple Street and Summer Snow, and has taught screenwriting at institutions including the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and his alma mater.
