Biography
Charlene McKenna is an Irish actress. Born on 26 March 1984 in Glaslough, County Monaghan, she studied classical music and religious education at the Mater Dei Institute of Education in Dublin. She first gained prominence in Ireland with her role as Jennifer Jackson in the 2005 miniseries Pure Mule.
McKenna appeared in Irish television series including Single-Handed 2 (2008), Whistleblower (2008) and Raw (2008–2013) as Jojo Harte. For Raw she won the IFTA for Best Actress (Television), and for Whistleblower she received the Outstanding Actress in a Mini-Series award at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. She has appeared on British television as Rose Erskine in Ripper Street (2012–2016), Leah Liebermann in Vienna Blood (2019–present) and Laura McKee / Captain Swing in Peaky Blinders (2019–2022). She is married to actor Adam Rothenberg, whom she met on the set of Ripper Street.
