Biography
Charles Bernstein is an American composer of film and television scores. Born on 28 February 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he studied composition at the Juilliard School and the University of California, where he worked with Roy Harris.
His first film score was for the 1969 Oscar-winning documentary Czechoslovakia 1968. Bernstein is known for his work on White Lightning (1973), Mr. Majestyk (1974), Gator (1976), The Entity (1982), Cujo (1983), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), April Fool's Day (1986) and Deadly Friend (1986). He has received a Daytime Emmy Award and two Primetime Emmy nominations. Since 1995 he has served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Music Branch.
