Biography
Charles Schnee (1916–1962) was an American screenwriter and film producer. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he graduated from Yale University and Yale Law School, practised law briefly, and moved to Hollywood in the mid-1940s after writing the play Apology (1943).
His screenwriting credits include I Walk Alone (1947), Red River (1948), They Live by Night (1949), The Furies (1950), Westward the Women (1951) and The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), for which he received an Academy Award. He also worked as a producer and production executive at MGM in the mid-1950s before returning to writing.
