Biography
Chen Jianyu is a Chinese screenwriter. He co-wrote the screenplay for Red Sorghum (1988), directed by Zhang Yimou, with Zhu Wei, adapting stories by Mo Yan.
He had early connections to Fifth Generation directors including Zhang Yimou through the Beijing Film Academy. His other credited work includes the 1990 film Jing ji zhui bu. He later joined the Film Association and wrote multiple screenplays.
