Biography
Chinaka Hodge is an American poet, educator, playwright and screenwriter. Born in Oakland, California, she graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and received an MFA in Writing for Film and Television from the University of Southern California in 2012.
Hodge began her career in poetry and performance, with work featured on HBO’s Def Poetry and publications including the poetry collection Dated Emcees (2016). She has worked extensively with Youth Speaks and is a founding member of the hip-hop collective The Getback. Her screenwriting credits include staff writer and teleplay duties on Snowpiercer (2020), writer and executive story editor on Amazing Stories (2020), writer on The Midnight Club (2022), and head writer and creator of Ironheart (2025).
