Biography
Chris Garbutt is an English animator, writer, director, art director and producer. He wrote episodes of the animated series The Amazing World of Gumball (2011) and worked as a storyboard artist on its first season.
He graduated with a first-class degree in Graphic Arts and Illustration from Leeds Metropolitan University. Garbutt has worked in animation for over twenty years on projects including Robotboy, Stressed Eric and Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, holding roles from storyboarding and character design to writing and directing.
With collaborator Rikke Asbjoern he co-created the Netflix/Nickelodeon series Pinky Malinky (2018–2019), serving as co-executive producer, showrunner and art director, and the Netflix interactive special We Lost Our Human (2023), on which he was co-writer, co-director and co-executive producer. He is head of story on the forthcoming Bad Fairies.
