Biography
Chris Kelly is an American screenwriter and director. He was born on 7 September 1983 in Sacramento, California, and studied at the University of California, Irvine.
Kelly began his career as a staff writer and director at Funny or Die and the Onion News Network, for which he shared a Peabody Award in 2009. He joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live in 2011, later serving as co-head writer with Sarah Schneider for the 2016–17 season; he was the first openly gay head writer of the programme and received several Emmy Award nominations for his work there.
Kelly wrote and consulted on three seasons of the Comedy Central series Broad City (2014–2016). He wrote and directed the feature film Other People (2016), which premiered at Sundance, and co-created the series The Other Two (2019–2023) with Schneider.
