Biography
Christiane Maybach was a German actress. Born in Berlin on 14 March 1932, she trained at the acting school of the Schillertheater from 1956 and worked on the stage before entering film in the early 1950s. She appeared in numerous German and international productions through the 1970s, often in supporting roles, and was sometimes referred to as "Berlin's Marilyn Monroe".
Maybach collaborated several times with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, playing Hedwig in Fox and His Friends (1975), as well as roles in World on a Wire (1973), Satan's Brew (1976) and Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980). Other film credits include Polly Nichols in A Study in Terror (1965) and Helga in $ (1971). From the 1990s she worked extensively in television, notably as Isabelle Bornat in Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten (1992) and as a long-running cast member of the soap Unter uns from 1994 until 2005.
She died in Cologne on 12 April 2006.
