Biography
Christine Olsen is an Australian screenwriter and producer. She wrote the screenplay for and co-produced the 2002 feature film Rabbit-Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce and adapted from Doris Pilkington Garimara’s book Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence.
Originally from New Zealand, where she grew up in a small country town and was educated, Olsen worked as a radio producer in Hong Kong before moving to Australia in 1985. She has produced documentaries including the award-winning Hephzibah (1998) and earlier works such as The Queen Goes West (1988) and Invitation to a Wedding (1995), for which she also wrote the screenplay. Olsen received the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Best Film Script for Rabbit-Proof Fence.
