Biography
Christopher St. John is an American actor, film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for playing Ben Buford in the 1971 film Shaft. A member of the Actors Studio from the mid-1960s, he appeared in a small number of film and television productions between 1968 and 1988.
In 1972 he wrote, directed, produced and starred in Top of the Heap, which was entered in competition at the 22nd Berlin International Film Festival and nominated for the Golden Bear. He also had a minor role in the television series Remington Steele.
He is the father of actor Kristoff St. John.
