Biography
Chunchuna Villafañe, also credited as Elba Villafañe, was an Argentine actress, model and architect. She was born in Buenos Aires on 9 April 1934 and died there on 4 June 2026.
She began appearing in film and television in the early 1970s. After studying acting with Agustín Alezzo, she returned to Argentina following the end of the military dictatorship and took the role of Ana in The Official Story (1985), directed by Luis Puenzo. For this performance she received the Best Supporting Actress award at the Chicago International Film Festival and a Silver Condor nomination.
Villafañe appeared in earlier films including Un guapo del 900 (1971) and No toquen a la nena (1976), and later works such as Nunca estuve en Viena (1989) and Vidas privadas (2001). She also worked in television and maintained a career in architecture and design. She was married to musician Horacio Molina and had two daughters, actresses and musicians Juana Molina and Inés Molina.
