Biography
Claire Atherton is a film editor. Born in 1963 in San Francisco, she grew up in Paris and trained at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière.
She began working with Chantal Akerman in 1984 and edited many of the director’s films and installations over more than thirty years, including A Couch in New York (1996), The Captive (2000) and No Home Movie (2015). She has also edited films by Éric Baudelaire and others.
In 2019 Atherton received the Vision Award Ticinomoda at the Locarno International Film Festival.
