Biography
Clara Calamai was an Italian actress. She was born on 7 September 1909 in Prato, Tuscany, and died on 21 September 1998 in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna.
She made her screen debut in the 1938 film Pietro Micca. Calamai is best known for her role as Giovanna Bragana in Luchino Visconti's Ossessione (1943). She later appeared in L'adultera (1946), for which she received the Nastro d'Argento for best actress, Le notti bianche (1957), Le streghe (1967) and Profondo rosso (1975).
In 1945 she married the explorer and filmmaker Leonardo Bonzi; the marriage was annulled in 1959.
