Biography
Claude Brasseur was a French actor. Born Claude Pierre Espinasse on 15 June 1936 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, he was the son of actors Pierre Brasseur and Odette Joyeux, and the father of actor Alexandre Brasseur.
He appeared in around 150 film and television productions from the late 1950s until shortly before his death. His credits include the role of Arthur in Jean-Luc Godard's Band of Outsiders (1964), the police inspector in Georges Franju's Eyes Without a Face (1960), François Beretton in The Party (1980) and The Party 2 (1982), and Jacky Pic in the Camping films (2006–2016). He also played the title role in the television series The New Adventures of Vidocq (1971).
Brasseur won César Awards for Best Supporting Actor in Pardon Mon Affaire (1976) and Best Actor in The Police War (1980). He died on 22 December 2020 in Paris.
