Biography
Claude Cerval (born André Marcel Gabriel Leloup, 21 February 1921 – 25 July 1972) was a French actor. He was born in Paris and appeared in more than forty films between 1955 and 1971, as well as in television. After secondary studies he took drama lessons, including with Louis Jouvet, and performed in cabarets and at the theatre, notably at the Odéon, before joining the Théâtre national populaire.
His film roles include Jean, the Croupier in Bob le Flambeur (1956), the priest in Le Beau Serge (1958), Clovis in The Cousins (1959), Raoul Fargier in The Big Risk (1960), the police commissioner in Any Number Can Win (1963), René in The Upper Hand (1966), an uncredited chauffeur in Belle de Jour (1967), the brigadier in The Milky Way (1969) and the investigating judge in To Die of Love (1971). On television he played the Comte de Nansac in the 1969 series Jacquou le Croquant. He died in Paris aged 51.
