Biography
Claudia Raschke, also credited as Claudia Raschke-Robinson, is a German-born cinematographer based in New York. She grew up in northern Germany, where her mother owned a chain of cinemas, and moved to the city in 1983 to study modern dance. She later trained in filmmaking at New York University and worked her way up through camera department roles before becoming a director of photography in the late 1980s.
Raschke is best known for her documentary work. She served as cinematographer on the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning RBG (2018), about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Other credits include the Oscar-nominated God Is the Bigger Elvis (2011), the Oscar-shortlisted Mad Hot Ballroom (2005) and Julia (2021), Particle Fever (2013), Fauci (2021), and the Peabody-winning My Name Is Pauli Murray (2021). She has also shot series such as House of Hammer (2022).
She is a founding member of the NYC Kamera Kollektiv, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and joined the American Society of Cinematographers.
