Biography
Claudio Cataño is a Colombian actor and director. He trained in theatre at the Escuela Rubén Di Pietro in Bogotá and made his television debut in 2005 in the Colombian adaptation of Casados con hijos.
Cataño is known for his television roles including Sudarsky in Rosario Tijeras (2010), Manuel Guerra Asturias "El León" in A mano limpia (2010), Rojas in A Thousand Fangs (2021), and Colonel Aureliano Buendía in the Netflix series One Hundred Years of Solitude (2024). He appears as Rojas in the 2026 film The Awakening. He has also directed feature films, beginning with Moria in 2016. For his performance in One Hundred Years of Solitude, he won the Platino Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Series in 2025 and the Premios India Catalina for Best Leading Actor in 2025.
He comes from an artistic family; his father, Mauricio Cataño, is a filmmaker, and his grandfather was the poet Mario Rivero.
