Biography
Clotilde Courau is a French actress. Born on 3 April 1969 in Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine, she left school at 16 to train at the Cours Simon, Cours Florent and other Paris institutions before joining Francis Huster's theatre company.
She made her screen debut in Jacques Doillon's Le Petit Criminel (1990), earning a European Film Award for Best Actress and a César nomination for Most Promising Actress. Courau has appeared in numerous French and international films, including Elisa (1995), La Vie en Rose (2007) as Annetta Gassion, Benedetta (2021) and An Easy Girl (2019).
In 2003 she married Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Venice and Piedmont; the couple separated in 2021. She has also worked in theatre and received the Prix Romy Schneider in 2000.
