Biography

Dale Stern is a director and producer working primarily in comedy television and feature films. He has directed episodes of Veep (2016–2019), Detroiters (2017), I'm Sorry (2017), Claws (2018–2022) and Bel-Air (2022), and served as co-executive producer on Bel-Air and Claws.

Earlier in his career he worked as first assistant director and associate producer on Brüno (2009) and Borat (2006), and as associate producer on The League (2009) and episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. On Veep he was first assistant director across multiple seasons from 2012 and later a producer.

Stern received two consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for his work on Veep, a Directors Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Directing in Comedy, and won the 2016 Gold Derby Award for Best Comedy Episode of the Year.
