Biography
Dan Gitlin is an American film editor based in Los Angeles. He began his career as an assistant editor and online editor at Westside Media Group before working with Lo-Max Films and Paradise Pictures.
Gitlin has collaborated extensively with director Bernard MacMahon. He served as supervising editor on the American Epic trilogy (American Epic: The Big Bang, American Epic: Blood and Soil and American Epic: Out of the Many, the One, all 2017) and edited the related musical film The American Epic Sessions (2017). He edited the documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin (2025).
Films he has worked on have screened at festivals including BFI London Film Festival, IDFA, SXSW and Sundance, with several audience awards and nominations including a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music Direction.
