Biography
Dan the Automator, born Daniel M. Nakamura, is an American record producer, composer and DJ. Raised in San Francisco, he began playing violin as a child and later turned to producing and DJing. He first gained attention for his production on Kool Keith's 1996 album Dr. Octagonecologyst.
Nakamura has collaborated on projects including Gorillaz's debut album (2001), Handsome Boy Modeling School with Prince Paul, and Deltron 3030. He composed the score for the 2019 film Booksmart, his first major US feature film score, following earlier soundtrack contributions to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and Money Monster (2016).
