Biography
Daniel Valdez is an American actor, musician, composer and activist. Born on 27 April 1949 in California, he is the younger brother of writer and director Luis Valdez. He co-founded the theatre group Teatro Campesino with his brother and joined Cesar Chavez's United Farm Workers union in 1966.
Valdez is known for his film roles as Hector Salas in The China Syndrome (1979), Henry Reyna in Zoot Suit (1981) and Lelo in La Bamba (1987), on which he also served as associate producer. He appeared as part of the Norteno Trio in Born in East L.A. (1987) and as Chuy Estrada in Which Way Is Up? (1977). He has also worked as a composer and musical director for stage and screen.
