Biography
Danny Bakewell Sr. is an American civil rights activist, real estate developer and media owner. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1946 and moved to Los Angeles in 1967.
Bakewell has led the Brotherhood Crusade for over thirty years and co-founded the National Black United Fund. He owns The Bakewell Company and acquired the Los Angeles Sentinel newspaper in 2004. He served as chairman of the National Newspaper Publishers Association.
He has appeared as himself in several documentaries, including O.J.: Made in America (2016), LA 92 (2017) and Burn Motherfucker, Burn! (2017).
