Biography
David Amram (born 17 November 1930) is an American composer, arranger and conductor. He studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, George Washington University and the Manhattan School of Music.
Amram composed incidental music for the New York Shakespeare Festival from 1956, working on 25 productions including Shakespeare in the Park. He wrote the scores for the films Splendor in the Grass (1961) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962), as well as The Young Savages (1961) and The Arrangement (1969). In 1966–67 he was the first composer-in-residence with the New York Philharmonic.
