Biography
David Bleich is a visual effects artist, matte painter and production designer. He has worked in visual effects and animation for over twenty years, with credits in both live-action and animated films.
Originally from New York, Bleich earned a BFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA in computer graphics from Syracuse University. He moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and began his career at Digital Domain as a matte painter on films including The Fifth Element (1997) and Titanic (1997). He later joined Sony Pictures, where he contributed to animated features, and now works freelance.
His credits include matte painting on Cast Away (2000) and visual development on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023). He served as production designer on the animated film KPop Demon Hunters (2025).
