Biography
David Canary was an American actor. He appeared as Lamar Dean in the 1967 Western film Hombre and as ranch hand Candy Canaday in the television series Bonanza from 1967 to 1970 and 1972 to 1973.
Canary was born David Hoyt Canary on 25 August 1938 in Elwood, Indiana, and grew up in Massillon, Ohio. He attended the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship and studied voice before pursuing acting. Early television roles included Dr Russ Gehring in the soap opera Peyton Place. He performed on Broadway and in other stage productions, including musicals.
He was best known for playing the twins Adam and Stuart Chandler on the daytime soap opera All My Children from 1983, receiving 16 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and winning five times for outstanding lead actor.
