Biography
David E. Lewis was an American screenwriter and television writer. He collaborated frequently with his younger brother Andy Lewis, with whom he received an Academy Award nomination for the original screenplay of the 1971 film Klute.
Lewis was born on 28 April 1915 in Berkeley, California, and died on 24 February 1981 in San Diego, California. He wrote episodes for numerous television series in the 1950s and 1960s, including The DuPont Show with June Allyson, 12 O'Clock High, The Virginian and Judd for the Defense.
Confined to a wheelchair following encephalitis contracted during the Second World War, Lewis worked with his brother on several projects; their partnership on Klute also earned nominations for the Golden Globe and Writers Guild of America awards.
