Biography
David Earl is a South African composer and pianist. Born in 1951 in Stellenbosch, he was educated at Rondebosch Boys' High School in Cape Town and moved to London in 1971, where he studied at Trinity College of Music.
He made his début as a composer in 1977 with a piano recital at Wigmore Hall. His works include several ballets, orchestral concertos and chamber music. Between 1982 and 1987 he composed scores for a number of British films and television productions, including P'Tang Yang Kipperbang (1982) and Arthur's Hallowed Ground (1986). He teaches in the UK.
