Biography
David R. Hardberger is an American cinematographer and camera operator. He began his career in the Universal Optical Department and worked in visual effects at companies including Robert Abel and Associates, with Doug Trumbull, and at Industrial Light & Magic. His early credits include camera work on films such as Willow (1988).
Hardberger later served as director of photography for miniature units on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), and as background photographer and cinematographer on the animated feature Dinosaur (2000). He has worked as director of photography on independent projects including Flytrap (2015) and Feast of Fear (2019).
