Biography
David Rose was a British-born composer, songwriter, arranger and orchestra leader who worked primarily in Hollywood. Born in London in 1910 and raised in Chicago, he scored numerous films and television series, including Hombre (1967) and Bonanza (1959), for which he composed the theme and incidental music under the pseudonym Ray Llewellyn.
Rose served as musical director for The Red Skelton Show for two decades and provided scores or themes for series such as Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven. He received four Primetime Emmy Awards for his television work. His film credits also include Operation Petticoat (1959) and Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960). Rose died in Burbank, California, in 1990.
