Biography

David Wharnsby is a Canadian film editor and occasional director. Born on 20 June 1967 in Waterloo, Ontario, he attended Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School. His mother hosted the children's television programme Romper Room in the 1960s.

Wharnsby has edited numerous feature films and television series, including The Saddest Music in the World (2003), Away from Her (2006), Passchendaele (2008), Hyena Road (2015), Alias Grace (2017) and episodes of Saving Hope (2012–2017), on which he also directed. He received a Genie Award for The Saddest Music in the World and a Directors Guild of Canada Craft Award for Away from Her.

He was married to director and actress Sarah Polley from 2003 to 2008.
