Biography
Davy Kaye (born David Kodeish, 25 March 1916 – 3 February 1998) was a British comedy actor and entertainer. He made his stage debut in 1935 and, after the Second World War, toured in revues in partnership with agent Joe Collins. From 1954 to 1968 he was resident comedian at London's Embassy Club and appeared in the original 1953 London production of Guys and Dolls.
Kaye's film roles included Trainer King in The Wrong Arm of the Law (1963), Jean Pascal in Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), Josh Moses in Carry On Cowboy (1965), the Admiral in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Benny in Carry On at Your Convenience (1971) and the Mouse in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1972). He was awarded the MBE in 1995 for services to charity.
