Biography
Dawn Botkins is an American actor. She appeared as herself in the 2003 documentary Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer, directed by Nick Broomfield, in which she discussed her friendship with Aileen Wuornos.
Botkins grew up in Troy, Michigan, and became close friends with Wuornos during their teenage years. She remained in contact with Wuornos after the latter's arrest and conviction, exchanging hundreds of letters while Wuornos was on death row. Botkins was the last person to visit Wuornos before her execution in 2002. She contributed to the editing of the 2011 book Dear Dawn, a collection of Wuornos's letters.
