Biography
Deborah Kampmeier is an American film and television director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she trained as an actress at the National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City from 1983 to 1985 and taught acting for twenty years at institutions including the Stella Adler Studios and New York University.
Kampmeier made her feature directorial debut with Virgin (2003), followed by Hounddog (2007), Split (2016) and Tape (2020). She began directing for television in 2019 with Queen Sugar and has since directed episodes of series including Star Trek: Discovery (2022), Clarice (2021), FBI: International (2021–2023), Star Trek: Picard (2023), The Gilded Age (2023–2025), Outer Range (2024) and Brilliant Minds (2024).
