Biography
Declan de Barra is an Irish screenwriter, musician and animator. Born in Bunmahon, County Waterford, he emigrated to Australia in 1989, where he studied fine art and performed in bands, before returning to Ireland in 2002.
He began screenwriting with children's series including Aardman's Canimals, CBBC's Funky Fables and Roy. He later wrote for The Originals (2013–2017), Marvel's Iron Fist (2017) and Chapelwaite (2021).
De Barra wrote episodes of Netflix's The Witcher (2019) and created and served as showrunner on the prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022). He has also contributed vocals to soundtracks for the franchise.
