Biography
DeMane Davis is an American film and television director and producer. Born in 1967 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, she began her career with the independent feature Black & White & Red All Over (1997), which she co-wrote and produced, followed by co-directing the crime thriller Lift (2001) with Khari Streeter. The latter premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and featured Kerry Washington in her first leading role.
Davis later worked in advertising before returning to longer-form directing. Ava DuVernay invited her to direct episodes of Queen Sugar, where she also served as producing director. This led to further television work directing episodes of series including How to Get Away with Murder, Station 19, You, Clarice and Found, as well as producing roles on Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker, Naomi and Brilliant Minds.
