Biography
Demir Gökgöl (1937–2012) was a Turkish-German actor. Born in Istanbul, he trained in Vienna and worked in theatre and at TRT radio in Turkey before emigrating to Germany in 1968. He appeared in numerous film and television roles, as well as in theatre and dubbing, and performed as a reciter of poetry by authors including Bertolt Brecht and Nazım Hikmet.
He is known for his role as Yunus Güner in Head-On (2004), Sokrates in Soul Kitchen (2009), and Hodja in 40 Quadratmeter Deutschland (1986). He also appeared in episodes of the series Tatort (1993–2010) and other productions such as When We Leave (2010). Gökgöl died in Hamburg.
