Biography
Diane Clare (born Diane Olga Claire Georgine Dirsztay) was an English actress. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began her screen career as a child, later appearing in credited roles from 1958.
She is known for her performances in Ice Cold in Alex (1958) as Sister Denise Norton, The Reluctant Debutante (1958) as Clarissa Claremont, Whistle Down the Wind (1961) as Miss Lodge, The L-Shaped Room (1962) as a nurse, The Haunting (1963) as Carrie Fredericks, The Plague of the Zombies (1966) as Sylvia Forbes and The Wrong Box (1966) as Mercy. Clare also appeared in television, including the series Persuasion (1960–1961).
She retired from acting in 1968 after marrying novelist and playwright Barry England in 1967. The couple had two children. Clare died on 21 June 2013.
