Biography
Don Catlin (also credited as Don H. Catlin or Dr. Don Catlin) is an American anti-doping scientist and pharmacologist. He founded the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory in 1982, the first sports anti-doping laboratory in the United States, and directed it until 2007. The laboratory conducted testing for the Olympics, the NFL, Major League Baseball minor leagues and the NCAA, among other organisations.
Catlin developed several key testing methods for performance-enhancing drugs, including the carbon isotope ratio test for testosterone and the detection of designer steroids such as THG. He oversaw drug testing at multiple Olympic Games beginning with Los Angeles in 1984. He appeared as himself in the 2017 documentary Icarus.
