Biography
Doris Mattes was a German actress. She was born on 7 October 1938 and died on 23 July 2013 in Munich.
She began her career in the Munich theatre scene in the 1960s, joining the Action-Theater (later the Antiteater) where she met Rainer Werner Fassbinder. She originated the role of Gunda in his play Katzelmacher in 1968 and reprised it in the 1969 film. She appeared in several other Fassbinder works, including Why Does Herr R. Run Amok? (1970) as a neighbour, World on a Wire (1973) as an employee, and Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974) as Mrs. Angermayer.
Later she founded her own acting agency, representing performers including Christine Neubauer and Michael Fitz, and retired from the profession in 2008.
