Biography
Ed Grady (1923–2012) was an American stage, film and television actor and teacher. Born Edward Louis Grady in Kinston, North Carolina, he studied theatre and English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of the Carolina Playmakers. He later taught English and drama before beginning his acting career in the late 1970s.
Grady’s film roles included appearances in D.A.R.Y.L. (1985), Not Without My Daughter (1991), Lolita (1997) and The Notebook (2004), in which he played Harry. On television he had recurring parts in Matlock and Dawson’s Creek, and appeared in the miniseries Alex Haley’s Queen and the television film To Dance with the White Dog (both 1993). His stage work included seasons in the outdoor drama Unto These Hills.
