Biography
Édouard Mathé was a French silent film actor. Born Édouard Matthyssens on 25 January 1881 in Courbevoie, he appeared in numerous films between 1914 and 1924, most notably as the journalist Philippe Guérande in Louis Feuillade’s serial Les Vampires (1915).
He was a regular member of Feuillade’s troupe and featured in several of the director’s other serials, including Judex (1916), Tih Minh (1918) and Parisette (1921), as well as Barrabas (1919). Mathé died on 17 September 1932 in Brussels.
