Biography
Edward Adrian Wilson (1872–1912) was a British polar explorer, naturalist, physician and artist. He served as junior surgeon and zoologist on Robert Falcon Scott’s Discovery expedition (1901–1904) and as chief of the scientific staff on the Terra Nova expedition (1910–1913).
Wilson reached the South Pole with Scott, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans on 17 January 1912, only to find that Roald Amundsen had arrived first. All five men died on the return journey; Wilson, Scott and Bowers perished in their tent around 29 March 1912.
