Biography
Eitarō Ozawa (also credited as Sakae Ozawa) was a Japanese actor and stage director. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1935 and 1988.
After leaving high school, Ozawa began acting in left-wing theatre groups including Toho Sayoku Gekijo and Shinkyo Gekidan. He made his film debut at the P.C.L. studio (later Toho) in 1935. In 1940 he was arrested following the dissolution of Shinkyo Gekidan and later joined Shochiku, working with directors including Tomu Uchida and Keisuke Kinoshita. He co-founded the Haiyuza theatre group in 1944.
Ozawa's film roles include Tôbei in Kenji Mizoguchi's Ugetsu (1953), Hori in Akira Kurosawa's Scandal (1950), Terumasa Ikeda in Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto (1954), and the Minister of Finance in The Return of Godzilla (1984). He was also active as a stage director.
